How Do We Work?
At Basic Canine Training, we believe that every dog is unique, and their individual needs must be understood to provide the best care possible. Our consultation and assessment process is designed to get to know you and your canine companion on a personal level, ensuring we tailor our services to meet their specific requirements.
STEP ONE:
Initial Inquiry:
♡
The process begins with your inquiry. You can reach out to us through our website, phone, or email to express your interest in our services.
Our friendly team will respond promptly, gathering basic information about your dog, such as age, breed, and any specific concerns or goals you have. We will also ask for information like Full Name, Physical Address and Email in order to book your consult with our trainer Bianca Abigail.
STEP TWO:
Fees, Dates and Time Availability:
♡
Our dog training pricing and appointment availability are designed to be flexible and transparent. Training session rates vary based on the program type, duration, and your dog’s specific needs.
We offer weekday and weekend appointments to fit your schedule, and all pricing details are clearly listed upfront. In some cases, additional training tools may be recommended, and we’ll provide clear options to ensure you have everything needed for your dog’s successful training journey.
Prices can range from R1850-R2500 per session, depending on your requirements. Training sessions are usually one hour in length. Double sessions are also available.
STEP THREE:
Online Assessment Link: OPTIONAL
♡
Before your in-person session, you can easily fill out our online form to share important details about your dog — such as your and your canine’s information, your training aims and outcomes, and then any other important preferences. This helps us prepare the in-person assessment, and ensure that your training programme will be tailored to your dog/s.

STEP FOUR:
In-Person Meeting or Virtual Consultation:
♡
We offer the flexibility of in-home or online consultations, allowing our expert trainer to work with your dog in a comfortable and familiar environment. During the visit, the trainer will interact with your dog, observe their behaviour, and identify any specific issues or areas that may need improvement. To gain a full understanding of your dog’s behavioural history and training needs, we’ll ask a series of questions about your dog’s past experiences, temperament, and challenges.
We’ll also discuss your goals — whether you’re seeking basic obedience training, addressing behavioural concerns, or improving everyday manners. By understanding your expectations, we can create a personalised training plan tailored specifically to your dog’s needs and your home environment.
STEP FOUR:
Begin Training Plan:
♡
After the consultation, we will discuss the proposed training plan with you. Each session thereafter focuses on practical, hands-on exercises that address your dog’s specific needs and goals, whether that’s improving obedience, reducing unwanted behaviours, or enhancing communication between you and your dog. Our trainer will guide you through each step, demonstrating techniques and ensuring you feel confident continuing the training at home.
Progress is regularly reviewed, and the training plan is adjusted as needed to keep your dog moving forward. These sessions create a consistent, supportive structure that helps your dog learn effectively and thrive in their everyday environment.
Additionally, after each training session, clients receive a personalised homework PDF designed to reinforce what was covered during the lesson. This guide includes clear step-by-step instructions, practical exercises, and helpful tips to continue progress at home. It serves as a reference to keep both you and your dog on track between sessions, ensuring consistency and faster results.
Our training sessions are interactive and engaging! You are encouraged to ask any questions or share concerns you might have about your dog's behaviour or our services.
